Switzerland increases funding to the Global Partnership for Education
Switzerland, a GPE donor partner since 2009, has announced an increase of its contribution to the Global Partnership for Education of US$41.5 million for the period 2017-2020.

Kano state in Nigeria received US$27 million to encourage girls' enrollment
Kano state in Nigeria received US$27 million out of US$100 million in grant GPE awarded to the country. 41,691 girls in primary school from 12 localities in the state have been awarded N45,000 each in scholarship to encourage enrollment and retention; the program is also sponsoring female teachers for training.
