Daniel Mont

Center for Inclusive Policy

Daniel Mont is the Co-President of the Center for Inclusive Policy, and an international expert in disability and development, particularly in the areas of social protection, employment, education, and disability measurement, and has published widely in these areas. As a Senior Economist with the World Bank for 10 years, based in both Washington and Vietnam, he was also the chair of the Analytical Working Group of the UN Statistical Commission’s Washington Group on Disability Statistics, and currently serves on several of their working groups. He is also a member of the UN’s Expert Group on Monitoring and Evaluating Disability and Development and has worked with many UN agencies and bilateral aid agencies, including UNICEF, ILO, UNESCAP, UNESCWA, DFID and DFAT, advising on the development and implementation of inclusive policies, and collecting and analysing data on disability. In addition, he is involved with capacity building activities with several disabled people organizations and disability NGOs. Prior to working at the World Bank, he was with the US Congressional Budget Office and the National Academy of Social Insurance, and was an assistant professor at Cornell University. He is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at University College London and a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his BA from Swarthmore College.
